Hey! You found our blog. This is where we post updates about what's going on at Emtwo (vacations, news, schedule updates). We also write about what's going on in our lives as well as cool sites we visit or fun tips and tricks we find around the internet. We're not a "specialty" blog focusing on any one subject or category. We like to keep things open, fun and light. We hope you'll stick around and share your thoughts with us.

For almost a year, I have been running things here at Emtwo and it has been a lot of work.  And I’m not complaining about that at all wink

Somewhere around May/June 2006, I realized that doing this alone would not serve my clients well at all.  I needed to be able to run this business and have something left over for my family at the end of the day.  After sitting down and realizing how much incoming work there was, there was really one very logical choice to make.

My husband Sean has always been interested in building websites for a long time and here I was, in a position to make that happen.  So he picked up a few of the books that I used to learn web development and spent a lot of him time neck deep in XHTML and CSS.  We are now finally at a point where he can take on a position as a web developer.

He will be working directly with clients during the coding phase of their sites.  While I will continue to do all the design work and help him with any coding or site maintenance, that is required.  We are a strong team outside of work and that dynamic filters over into our business as well.  We are both hard working individuals with a strong drive and desire to succeed and make our clients happy and successful with their sites.

We are still the same Emtwo as before, yet stronger, more efficient and capable of taking on more projects.  We thank you all for your continued support and we look forward to working on some very exciting projects in the New Year.

Since the reboot, I have been spending some of my quiet off-time working on some adjustments to the overall layout and information on this site (as well as 10 of my other pet-projects).  When I worked on the site originally, there was no doubt that I was under a specific time crunch, which left certain things all willy-nilly.  Here and there, little by little, I have realigned and restructured some pieces that I wasn’t completely and totally 110& happy with.  I don’t know if I will ever be 110% happy with a site, because I think there is always room for expansion and growth and rethinking and adjusting.  The web is ever changing, and so are the things we can present on our websites.

Did I have to do this?

Definitely not.

But designing and creating is something I love to do, so my want to change it up, far exceeded the need. Some people might say that if it isn’t broke, then don’t fix it.  But that’s not how I live my life, so why should my company website be any different?  What you see, is what you get.

Oh, one last thing, I finally switched the entire site to the domain emtwowebstudios.com (you can still get here via m2webstudios.com and even the short version at emtwo.net). Be sure to update your links!

I wanted to share how I decided on the new layout and style for emtwo.  I knew right away the first thing I wanted to do was change the entire color scheme.  I went through pages upon pages of palettes, and I liked many.  I think choosing the color scheme was one of the most difficult aspects of getting this redesign pegged.  I was looking for something bold, something that popped.  But I didn’t want it to be dark and dreary.  I didn’t want it to be light and springy.  A happy medium was more like it.

After toying around with a few options, I decided on:

Welcome to the grand opening of Emtwo!

Many of you reading this know me as Mel.  This is my new business venture.  It was time to go completely solo and really spread my wings.

At Emtwo, you can expect the same attention to detail, loyalty, out-of-the-box thinking and dedication to your project.

I absolutely love what I do and I love that so many of you love what I do too.  Without you there would be no Emtwo.  And I am forever grateful.

Thanks for stopping by!
