I guess you could say that I’ve been keeping my husband busy He’s got a slew of development work going on right now and I thought I’d put together a little sneak peek at what he’s working on. 

Two of the sites should be launching later this week.  Both personal blogs (top left and bottom right).  The other two (top right and bottom left) sites won’t be launching for at least another two weeks. 

All of them were a blast to work on and I can’t wait to see my mockups come to life.  It’s really fun to watch!

The good folks at Mozilla released Thunderbird 2.0 a few weeks back, but we’ve been a little slow on upgrading all our computers. However, today is the day!

There are quite a few new features (advanced folder views, message tagging) and some updates to existing features (improved search, better junk mail filtering) that we are looking forward to playing around with.  If you haven’t tried Thunderbird yet, give it a whirl.  It’s free and in our opinion, far better than Outlook

One of the tools that has changed the way we do business here at Emtwo, is Basecamp.

We have started to use it for all our larger projects as well as maintenance contracts.  We love being able to easily communicate with our clients, share information, brainstorm, and meet milestones.  It’s inspired us in so many ways.  We feel more productive and in control of our business. 

In addition, it has made our billing hassle free because it now integrates with Freshbooks, which we have been using for billing for almost a year.  Since we started using Freshbooks we get paid faster and we spend less time billing and more time running our business.

There are so many different applications out there now that offer these types of services.  I’ve not found any that really match-up with Basecamp and Freshbooks.  That’s not to say one of them won’t in the future but for now, both Basecamp and Freshbooks work for our specific needs and we are more organized and productive because of them.

Last week when we launched our new design we were really happy with how everything turned out.  We had spent a fair amount of time going through revisions and building a site that reflected our personality and how we run our business.

Later in the week I worked on updating some of our print material.  Business cards, letterhead, marketing material, that sort of thing.  When we took our new logo and printed it out, we found that it didn’t print well.

We should have checked this out before going live with the site.  I can’t make any excuses for not doing that.

Mistakes happen.  And the moment that first sheet of paper printed out, we knew we made one. We yelled, we cried, we laughed and than we got back to work.  We developed a new(er) logo that works better around the edges.  It was really just a matter of refining and switching out one little detail with another.

We don’t even know if anyone would have really noticed, since the other one wasn’t up for very long.  But we did want to address the situation and say, Hey!  We do make mistakes, and we work hard to correct them. 

Our new(er) logo is now getting printed out on our new business cards, letterhead, envelopes and promotional items.  We’re happy to have that all straightened out and completed.  Mark another thing off in Basecamp!
